Levend Parlement uses art for societal impact and change.

Change begins by questioning fixed patterns. By intervening in decision processes with artistic interventions, we open up new perspectives and challenge ingrained customs. This is how space and possibilities emerge for new ways of thinking, experiencing, and acting.

Who we are
Who we are

This is Levend Parlement

We are a collective of artists, designers, and researchers who develop artistic interventions to help organizations make an impact and contribute to major societal transitions. We operate at the intersection of art, policy, and science.

Change begins with questioning established patterns. By intervening in decision-making processes with artistic interventions, we open up new perspectives and challenge ingrained habits. This creates space and opportunities for different ways of thinking, experiencing, and acting.

We break through existing value systems and introduce new perspectives, based on experimentation, empathy and connection.

Artistic interventions as a foundation for transformation

Major societal transitions demand different ways of collaborating and making decisions. Artistic interventions offer space for experimentation, navigating uncertainty, and tapping into alternative sources of knowledge, such as physicality and imagination.

We're not interested in a method or strategy, but in a fundamentally different way of approaching complex issues. Not through ready-made solutions, but through attention, curiosity, and a willingness to embrace the unknown. Our interventions question, confront, and inspire action.

We work artistically, investigatively, cyclically and iteratively.

Levend Parlement exists for civil society organizations, governments, and other parties with the courage to fundamentally overhaul systems and processes. We seek sustainable partnerships with organizations that, like us, strive for meaningful change.

Complex issues transcend sectors and disciplines. We delve into the core of these challenges, develop interventions that challenge existing structures, and build bridges between perspectives.

Break old patterns. Let's create new possibilities together.

Together we bring change

Scenariosessions

Scenariosessions

Scenario Sessions is a policymaking approach developed from the perspective and knowledge of theater. In Scenario Sessions, we present a (local) issue on the floor as a spatial representation. All stakeholders involved in the issue assume both human and non-human roles. This method allows participants to experience the issue spatially and thus gather new information about it. It also allows for switching roles and perspectives on the floor. In this way, empathy becomes a key value in policymaking. Participants can also play out various scenarios related to this issue and thus experience what it's like to imagine that possible future; what bottlenecks or opportunities does it present?

We previously conducted Scenario Sessions on behalf of: Radboud UMC, Municipality of Nijmegen, Alliander, Radboud University

The Empty Center

The Empty Center

What happens when we consider a problem or issue from all angles, without immediately taking action or unleashing a new toolkit? What happens to our energy and our perspective when we learn to be and work with these issues instead of against them? Can we position a problem as something beautiful with aesthetic value in space? The "empty center" invites us to do so.

The goal of The Empty Center is to help participants experience how we often tend to act as quickly as possible when dealing with complex issues or problems to get rid of them. This results in a new protocol or "innovation stacking." What if we learn to remain calm with complex issues (staying with the trouble)? What insights will that yield?

The Empty Center was designed for User Central. For this specific assignment, "The Empty Center" consists of a large white block, placed in the center of the space. This block embodies the problem in the space. You can't look around or over it, you can't push it away. We then physically challenge ourselves to work with the block; what happens if you view it as an object of value, something that can provide you and your organization with insights, something that invites collaboration?

The Empty Center was on display at the user-centric conference

Regime of space

Quote from a visitor
Regime of space Regime of space

Every space is subject to a regime; a gym invites you to get moving, a movie theater invites you to watch a screen in silence. The more you are aware of a space's regime, the more you can play with it to spark different conversations, new solutions, and a sustainable future.

Regimes are all around us and determine our behavior. Spaces within organizations are very restrictive in their regimes: the tables, the chairs, the arrangement. Everything focuses the mind, expands the body, and restricts freedom of movement (and thought). To recognize and break through regimes on a large, systemic scale, you can start or practice on a small, daily basis. We do this in the "Regime of Space" intervention.

Regime of Space was designed on behalf of the Energy Festival Brabant.
